Michael Arthur Fedorko

Michael Arthur Fedorko was nominated to the Casino Control Commission by Governor Christine Todd Whitman upon his retirement from the State Police and sworn into office on November 17, 1999. In May 2004, Commissioner Fedorko was re-nominated for a second five year term by Governor James E. McGreevey. Fedorko served several terms as Vice Chair, and was Acting Chair in 2002.

Fedorko began his 31-year career with the New Jersey State Police as a general duty road Trooper in 1969 and was later transferred to the Executive Protection Bureau during the terms of Governor Brendan T. Byrne, Governor Thomas H. Kean, and Governor James J. Florio.

In October 1993, Fedorko became commandant of the New Jersey State Police Academy. Two years later, he transferred to the Division Staff Section and was promoted to the rank of major. In November 1996, he became the chief administrative officer for the State Police. Soon after, he was assigned to the position of executive officer and promoted to lieutenant colonel. He was later appointed deputy superintendent and on February 28, 1999, Governor Whitman promoted him to acting superintendent.

Fedorko served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1972 and is a Vietnam veteran. He was wounded in action at Khe Sanh, Republic of Viet Nam on March 24, 1967.

Fedorko earned a BS in criminal justice from the College of New Jersey and a master's in governmental administration from the Fels School of Government, University of Pennsylvania. He also attended the Management Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

After leaving the Commission in 2009, Fedorko was appointed Superintendent of Police/Director of Public Safety of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. He retired from that position on May 7, 2018. In July 2018, Fedorko was appointed as head of the Atlantic County Department of Public Safety.
